The Succession File

Bilal Chaudhry · founder, Dastarkhwan Group — the business that lives in his head

SOP Genie wrote down how the kitchens run. What nobody has written down is Bilal: which supplier gets paid first when money’s tight, why the Clifton landlord gets a Ramzan gift, what the handshake deal with the meat vendor actually was. If Bilal is unreachable for a month, the business has ten kitchens and no cook.

The Succession File is a guided interview on his own subscription: an hour a week, it asks him the questions his sons will otherwise ask a filing cabinet — and turns the answers into an organised, private file.

The Succession File
Claude Project · runs on Bilal’s own subscription

This week: the suppliers.

Chapter 4, then. Three questions to start: (1) Walk me through the meat vendor arrangement — what’s on paper, and what’s understood? (2) If cash were short in a bad month, who gets paid first, and who has earned patience? (3) You mentioned Ustad Rafiq’s brother supplies the Karachi masala mix — what happens to that arrangement if he retires? Voice notes are fine if typing is a chore — I’ll structure them.
