April brought 33 new scholars into the programme and carried our all-time disbursement past PKR 600M. We signed two new partnerships this month — one in industrial-electrician vocational training, one in health assistantship — and the vocational tier grew by 9 scholars month-on-month, driven entirely by programme-linked placements. Nine scholars completed their programmes in April; their seats are already being refilled.

Across all three tiers, we ended April with 380 active scholars: 204 in K-12, 128 in higher education, and 48 in vocational programmes. The vocational tier added 9 scholars versus March — the largest single-month gain for that tier. Five healthcare interventions were funded this month at a total cost of PKR 0.86M, including post-accident orthopaedic surgery and follow-up care for one scholar. That case — Areeb S. — was published on our website in April and illustrates why we treat medical support as a core programme cost, not an exception. Retention held at 95.9%, the highest rate recorded since Q3 2025.
Korangi Technical Institute — Industrial Electrician Cohort
Signed in late March, this partnership places 12 Roshni scholars in the industrial-electrician certification course at Korangi Technical Institute, sponsored by Bolan Bank under Roshni’s Vocational Training arm. KTI provides training materials, workshop access, transportation, mentorship, and job placement assistance; Roshni covers all associated training costs. The six-month course starts 15 June 2026. Cohort selection is in its final stage, with selected scholars to be announced in May.
Amaltas Health Institute — Health Assistantship Certification
Roshni and Amaltas Health Institute have partnered to place six scholars on Amaltas’s 12-month Health Assistantship Certification track, starting July 2026. Amaltas waives 50% of programme fees; Roshni covers the remaining tuition and living stipends. Scholars are drawn from existing K-12 graduates. Successful completers are placed in Karachi-area clinics, with starting salaries in the PKR 38,000–48,000 per month range. Final selections will be confirmed in late May.
Sethi Family Trust — MoU
A new Memorandum of Understanding with the Sethi Family Trust expands scholarship and vocational access for youth in Karachi’s Lyari and Korangi districts. The Trust brings established community infrastructure; Roshni brings student selection, academic oversight, and holistic-support delivery — covering tuition, books, uniforms, transport, and medical assistance. Together, the two organisations will identify students who face financial barriers to quality education and provide structured pathways toward financial independence.

Shahzaib has been wiring the neighbours’ houses for free since he was fourteen. Everyone on our street calls him for it. We could never afford to get that made official — the certification costs more than I earn in two months. When Roshni called to confirm his place, I asked them to repeat it twice.

In May, we will announce the final selection for the industrial-electrician cohort — 12 scholars whose names and profiles will be shared with donors directly. The Amaltas Health Institute shortlist closes in late May ahead of the July programme start. We are also processing applications for the next K-12 intake. Year-to-date disbursement stands at PKR 118.6M; we expect to confirm a third vocational partnership before the May digest.
